At the same time, it is expected that these processors will require much more current. To keep the distribution losses low at an increased power level, the input current of the new generation of on-board dc/dc converters has to be increased. For this two buck converter topologies are suitable and that is Synchronous Buck Converter and Multiphase Interleaved Synchronous Buck Converter. In this paper the simulation of both synchronous and multiphase synchronous buck converter has been carried out, which delivers power from a 12V input to a 1V /100A. Also the comparison of both topologies is made on the basis of simulation results.

A High Efficiency Low-Voltage Soft Switching DC–DC Converter for Portable Applications

This paper presents a novel control method to improve the efficiency of low-voltage DC-DC converters at light loads. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) converters have poor efficiencies at light loads, while pulse frequency modulation (PFM) control is more efficient for the same cases. Switching losses constitute a major portion of the total power loss at light loads. To decrease the switching losses...

An Interleaved Configuration of Modified KY Converter with High Conversion Ratio for Renewable Energy Applications; Design, Analysis and Implementation

In this paper, a new high efficiency, high step-up, non-isolated, interleaved DC-DC converter for renewable energy applications is presented. In the suggested topology, two modified step-up KY converters are interleaved to obtain a high conversion ratio without the use of coupled inductors. In comparison with the conventional interleaved DC-DC converters such as boost, buck-boost, SEPIC, ZETA a...

Application of duality for derivation of current converter topologies

A unified approach is suggested for the derivation of current-tocurrent converter topologies, which relies on duality principles. As conventional duality rules have restricted utility and are difficult to apply with switched mode circuits, special attention is devoted to switch mode converter element dualities. Also, a special means of viewing complex switched mode topologies as a cascade combi...

High performance Cuk converter considering non-linear inductors for photovoltaic system applications

The Cúk converter, which has voltage buck and boost ability, offers high flexibility as an interface device for solar panels. In addition, current ripple can be more reduced because of two input and output inductors at both sides. This paper presents a new application of current-variable inductors in a Cúk converter that reduces the size and capacity of storage elements. Because of two inductor...
